Donate to Homes for Families
It’s a tough time for Homes for Families to be doing its work to end family homelessness.
How can we be a
voice for solutions to homelessness when the safety net of shelter is threatened, housing budgets are cut, and
many programs are lost?
We remain committed to a better way. Homes for Families’ members are advocating for a coordinated
effort to end family homelessness and to ensure families have stable housing. Efforts focus on
prevention of
homelessness, production of affordable housing, adequate funding for family shelters, and education and training
to increase and stabilize income.
Even in the midst of the crisis we are having success, winning resources
for housing and prevention,
holding back the worst of state budget cuts to shelter, and gaining new allies in our work.
In these difficult
times, our strong clear advocacy voice is needed now more than ever.
We also have cause for hope. Through our public policy series,
parents who had once been homeless are coming
together to learn the ins and outs of public policy. And they are now lifting their voices as advocates for change.
They are returning to shelters to educate other women, register them to vote, and engage them in advocacy.
Homes for Families is a partnership of over 600 members—those who have been there and experienced homelessness, and
those who care. Working together, we can hold off some of the worst cuts to shelters and we can publicize this
crisis. And together we can advance thoughtful and effective public policy resulting in housing, education, and
jobs to end family homelessness.
Please join us in this work by giving whatever you can. Your donation will be put to use helping to end
homelessness for families in Massachusetts.
