Advocacy LiaisonsThe Advocacy Liaison Program is designed to engage shelter/service providers and front line staff – who understand the barriers and issues that affect homeless families – in public policy advocacy. The goal is to educate and mobilize this community to speak as one unified voice in support of more funding and effective programs. Advocacy Liaisons are the point people in their organizations or departments for Homes for Families’advocacy efforts. Liaisons will attend as many of the three trainings (discussed in the Meeting and Training link) as possible and will receive action alerts, event information and general updates, which the liaison will distribute to staff. The ultimate purpose is to supply service/shelter providers with current information concerning the policies affecting homeless families and use this information to educate our elected officials. This is a flexible program that can involve one person calling their legislators or a large scale advocacy process engaging every staff member. For more information about HFF’s public policy advocacy, visit the Policy Corner link.
