ProgramsAdvocacyHomes for Families (HFF) and its membership work to educate elected officials and the general public on not only the problem of family homelessness, but also on the solutions. Our partners assist us in analyzing current policies addressing family homelessness and determining recommendations for policy changes that will assist in our efforts. We hold monthly meetings to engage our members and host advocacy events to share our expertise with government officials. Please see the Policy Corner pages for more information Community OrganizingHFF was founded on the basis that the voices of every stakeholder in family homelessness must be heard by our elected officials and state agencies. To this end, HFF engages shelter and service providers and homeless and formerly homeless families in our efforts. We provide trainings on public policy, public speaking and consumer engagement; visit shelters to meet with providers and homeless families; and connect stakeholders to their elected officials through our action alert network, legislative breakfasts and state house visits. Please see the Families in Action and Provider Community pages for more information about HFF’s community organizing activities. Leadership DevelopmentOur leadership development initiatives empower parents and engage them to become stronger leaders and activists in both their own lives and in our collective fight to end homelessness. We support families by teaching them how their personal stories of homelessness are directly tied to public policy, invite them to become civically engaged and support their efforts to raise public awareness on the issue of family homelessness.
